Default Memories of Vet Stadium

Today was the final day in the history of Vet Stadium. For many years this concrete stadium has served as the center of sports life for fans throughout the Delaware Valley. What is your favorite memory of Veteran's Stadium and why?

Default Vet Closing

The Phillies pulled off the impossible. All negative feelings from 2003 were erased with yesterday's ceremonies. While the Eagles had the mentality of "Let's get this over with," the Phillies took their time, and heavily considered their fans. The entire purpose of the ceremony, seemingly, was to cater to the fans. It was amazing and for once, they did everything the right way.

I wonder if that was because the Phillies actually won a world championship while housed at the Vet - in that it actually held happy memories for many in the franchise because of that.

Even having made it to several championship games made Phillies' teams special. 1980, 1983, 1993.

If the Eagles had had more than 1980, they might have made more of a big deal.

My favorite memory is watching the Army-Navy game their with my Grandfather, brothers and cousins. It was the first time that I had seen a real football game live in a stadium. It was incredible. The cadets doing push-ups after each score, the cannons blasting, the roar of the crowd. I fell in love with football that day. And the Army-Navy game has been one of my favorite rivalries to watch ever since.

As far as I'm aware, there isn't a date set yet, but whenever it is, I'll be there.
