I for one welcome our new fantasy football overlord, since he's using the traditional PB fantasy password.

I'm predicting big things this season from the Monsters of the Parkway.

All I have to do is figure out who this year's Marques Colston is....

Auto or manual draft?

Nevermind, i just logged in and looked. I cant hang with the live drafts, too much research required....

If you don't log in to the manual draft, then your team will be auto-drafted. I've missed a couple of live drafts and have managed to have fun and make the playoffs anyway.

Yahoo's ranking and auto-draft algorithm is pretty good, though I typically make sure that the players I'm most interested are set up to be in the top 20 so that at least the first 2 rounds go well, and also that no injured or otherwise unavailable players are in there (eg, Vick, Larry Johnson).

Even if you do show up for the live draft and the good-natured heckling that goes on, you'll still have the Yahoo! rankings at your disposal. In short - you don't need to do a lot of research to have fun in this league.

Last year I missed the live draft - but I had "prioritized" my draft list so players were picked from that list instead of Yahoo's.

It's great we're getting a good turnout, and I'm glad to see some new names. Welcome aboard. It's fun getting to know someone after heaping scorn on their weak backfield.

Just one thing -- If you don't plan to stick it out, please don't join. As commissioner last year, I had to deal with finding a new player for a league member who quit playing, and that's no fun for anyone involved. And it's just as important for the eighth-place team in December as it is for everyone at the beginning of the season.

I'm just saying, that's all.

As to the draft, I've missed it both years I've played and made the championship game twice. As in real life, it helps to be both prepared and lucky, though I admit I've been more of the latter than the former.

I noticed we have 7 teams so far. Do you usually get a full league amount - either 10 or 12 teams?

The scoring seems heavily weighted towards TDs. This will be an adjustment for me. Most leagues I've participated in were more balanced between yardage and TD's. Looks like i'll have to alter my usual strategy...
