3 new bowling alleys/lounges coming to Philadelphia 13th + Chestnut( Former Woolworth building) 41st + Locust N.2nd Street(Northern Liberties This is great news, Philadelphia or any city for that matter needs entertainment venues that will cater to all ages. It's a fun entertainment outlet for Philadelphians and tourists alike. Great job. |

Ex-cellent. I'm a miserable bowler, but I'd like to check one of these out. The one by Penn ought to be a huge hit with the students.
Maybe one of these could be the site of a future PhillyBlog happy hour? |

Like all undergraduates at Wake Forest U. in the mid-80's I had to satisfy a two-course phys ed requirement. One was a course that was a whole lot like high school health class, which I hated and got a D in - it was a complete waste of time. The other class could be any actual "sport", so I opted for bowling.
Got a D in that too, but at least it was fun. As long as there's no grading, let's do a happy hour at one of these bowl-a-rama's...when they're open, of course. Glad to see that Woolworth's is getting reused. |

These don't sound like bowling alleys. Instead, they're chichi stupid places with bowling alley's attached.
Bowling and sushi and white wine - god, sounds awful.

Chris - lighten up - gotta love the sushi and bowling combo
Truthfully though, I've lived in center city almost four years now, and I have wanted a bowling alley, and the topic has come up before with friends who wondered the same thing. Maybe when/if Phillyblog has an event at one of these places, it can be tied into a fundraiser, and we can call it "Bowling for Phillyblog!" |

I was just kidding too - I just try to do everything without those cheap shortcuts - the smiley faces. Sometimes I miss. I used to go to a bowling alley Amsterdam Avenue on the westside of Manhattan. It was one of those wonderful places our parents warned us about - quite sleezy. But, it was areal bowling alley. Unfortunately, it got sold and turned into one of David Breener's chichi pool palaces. I hope somebody dropped their sushi down the side pocket. Hell, I'd even settle for Stuckeybowl! But Sushi Bowl just hits me wrong. Somebody would be forever putting their rice rolls in the finger holes.
