Angry Buddha and the angry man

Here is a story about the Buddha you might enjoy:

The Buddha explained to skeptics how he was able to maintain his compassion.

One day the Buddha was walking through a village. A very angry and rude young man came up and began insulting him. "You have no right teaching others," he shouted. "You are as stupid as everyone else. You are nothing but a fake!"

The Buddha was not upset by these insults. Instead he asked the young man, "Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not take it, to whom does the gift belong?"

The young man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and answered, "It would belong to me, because I bought the gift."

The Buddha smiled and said, "That is correct. And it is exactly the same with your anger. If you become angry with me and I do not get insulted, then the anger falls back on you. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you have done is hurt yourself.

"If you want to stop hurting yourself, you must get rid of your anger and become loving instead. When you hate others, you yourself become unhappy. But when you love others, everyone is happy."

The young man listened closely to these wise words of the Buddha. "You are right, O Blessed One," he said. "Please teach me the path of love. I wish to become your follower."

The Buddha answered kindly, "Of course. I teach anyne who truly wants to learn. Come with me."

I've read Buddha. My summation of the religion is that if you're being raped, lay back and take it. Suffering is just life. We're all born losers. Buddha didn't erase the negative particle, a principle building block of the universe which is a part of us. It's the negative charge in physics that is just as important as the positive charge. Where I believe in balance with positivity and optimism, some cite hate as a foundation of freedom.

An optimistic and positive sign that change is around the corner is the criminalization of so-called "hate speech" as in Europe. In America we have the unwritten codes, but it's only a matter of time. The feudal lords understand what is the root of all freedom. You call it hate speech, I call it freedom speech. It's not the advocation of anything more than that which is a civil right of being an American. Because some people dwell in the realms of the lower IQ class and their actions hurt the freedom of speech, it doesn't mean one size fits all for everyone else and speech should be censorsed.

If Americans didn't hate taxes, this country would have never been founded. If Man and Woman loved wiping their butt with leaves, they would have never invented toilet paper. Buddha should stick to his hut and let the advance world do it's thing.

I think you mean "Aum" or "Om":

Ohm is an electrical unit of resistance while talking about current.

9/14, quote on elections, because shosh had to put up that thoughtful writeup on mediocrity and elitism:
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." — H. L. Mencken

Great story- I love it! Thanks for sharing it with us... How we respond is OUR choice... a very wise life lesson, indeed.

You are correct, sir. I think I got caught up in all the electrical wiring my fella is doing. Volts, amperes, conductors... It's all quite shocking.

And I had to think of this story again today as I tried not to get tangled up in a family drama. Good story to take with you.

Oh, and please don't bother reading any of the New Testament in the bible. From what I understand, Jesus Christ said that if someone strikes you, turn the other cheek! How crazy!

I'm sure there's some analogy you can draw about taxes in there, right? Or perhaps immigration. Or hate speech or something.

This is a belief not rooted in claiming to know it all, therefore there can be individual interpretations of what Spacialism is. Therefore it is a belief and way of life defined by the individual, and their own "space." What a great philosophy, where you are allowed to think for yourself! I've already wrote 139 pages of what Spacialism is to me. Enjoy.

There is always room for error, or at least there should always be room for error. When a person claims to Know something, then they have done two

things. The first is closing the door to alternatives to the Thing that you
Know, making you vulnerable. If by closing this door you lose access to
valuable knowledge, you may find yourself stunted in the long run.
The second comes from the first. Obviously there is no way to Know
anything in much the same way that the only constant is Change.

Yeah, that's ok. I spoke to a homeless guy for a few minutes tonight, so I've had enough crazy for the day.

Maybe tomorrow?
