A new resident of Mt. Airy asked me this question. I couldn't give her an answer. Does anyone know? She comes from a integrated church in NJ. She is looking for the same here, perfers close to home. I am now curious, are there any in Phila?

Hi
If by 'integrated' you mean all are welcome and a diverse population - even a place where all religions and traditions are respected and the community reflects all of society, then Saint Miriam may be a good fit. www.MySaintMiriam.org Thanks! Father Jim+ |

I'm not sure if I understand what is meant here by "integrated." But I don't know of any congregation that's segregated. I don't know of any congregation where you'd be turned away because of your race or ethnicity.

For whatever reason they weren't too keen on me last time I tried to join up at the Nation of Islam.

Here is a link to a non-denominational Christian church called 'The Well' it is a community of people in Feasterville, PA who work hard to…
They are located at 1631 Loretta Avenue, Feasterville Trevose, Pa. 19053 which is just off Bustleton above Street Road. http://church.thewellpa.com/ Although I am not Christian, I attended one of their services and found them to be open minded with a diverse congregation. Most of those in attendance the Sunday I was there were young people (25 to 40 yrs old). While looking for a place to worship they lucked into a warehouse which they cleaned and converted nicely. They are an active group whose philosophy is based on Jesus teaching of Love and acts. They go all over doing volunteerism and have been twice to help Katrina victims. They do not mind getting dirty and doing hard work. The sermon was a treat as it was not all about Brimstone and Fire but all about Spiritual growth and love.
