Ezra,

This is hard to say- there are many people of various religions who may see some sort of divine connection to this trend. Personally, as is well articulated I believe in the article to which I posted a link on Humber's trilobite thread ( http://environment.harvard.edu/relig...ity/index.html )- human stewardship of the ecology by people of faith is the primary issue we need to concern ourselves with. If scientific (and even Christian evangelical and other conservative faith groups of various backgrounds) consensus is that global warming is a reality and is causing devastating harm to the earth and all the life in it- I personally believe that either ignoring or denying this reality and not making substantive changes is, in itself, sinful, and poor stewardship of Creation.

My question is... since the polar icecaps are melting at an accelerated rate ... right now... it's conceivable that we will have a global flood again in our lifetime.

Aside from the wingnuts who will blame this on gayness... will Christians in general see the work of God in a modern day global flood?

Then there are those of us who believe prayer, meditation, etc. is an act to stimulate the unconscious to attune with the unseen forces of Nature, aligning our inner selves to be in concert with the Universe.
As if we were one minor instrument in a massive orchestra. Occasionally an instrument becomes untuned or the player falters at his/her task and must listen for just the right place where they can again re-join the other musicians.
