I wanted to let everyone know in our community about our new parish, Saint Miriam. Our opening services will be April 6th at 10:30 AM at 4101 Freeland, 19128 – we share space with Mishkan Shalom - in the Manayunk/Rox section, corner of Freeland and Shurs - and have begun a vibrant relationship to build an inclusive and social justice-orientated community. We would welcome your attendance.
In today's world, we are all hurting and in need of a non-exclusive place that offers unconditional love and hope. At Saint Miriam, we provide a safe and inclusive community where you are free to be yourself and ask questions! Experience a unique appreciation and a breathtaking approach to spiritual healing and liturgy as you participate in our services in the Catholic tradition of the Mass at our church. From warm and inviting services, including challenging and thought-provoking messages, to support groups for individuals struggling with substance abuse, to those simply needing an inclusive and accepting home. The Parish Community of Saint Miriam is a place of compassion, acceptance, and renewal. Please visit our website at www.MySaintMiriam.org or contact us for more information and find out what you may have been missing in a true community of faith! Worship Every Week - Starting April 6 2008: Thursdays at 6:00 PM in the chapel, 3rd level Sundays at 10:30 AM in the main sanctuary, 3rd level Best, Father Jim+ |

Sounds nice, but I think I will stick with a church that doesn't need to water down the Gospel in order to make everyone happy.

Um...it's the same Gospel that's being read in your church: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John! The interpretations of the Gospels, however, can differ from Church to Church, from priest to priest, from layperson to layperson. And that is fine. God gave us minds to think.

So did anyone go to St. Miriam's yet? I love the website! I still plan on going. Though I am settled in my Episcopal church, once in awhile I like to go somewhere different.

I didn't see anything about that in the invitation. Every church, synagogue, mosque or other religious institution where people pray interprets its holy book one way or another. Some, however, decide that their interpretation is God's exact meaning, which could limit the opportunity for growth and thought.
