Default Holy Week Services @ St. Michael's Lutheran Church

COME AS YOU ARE!

The solemnity of Holy Week and the joy of Easter Day mark the worship services at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 6671 Germantown Avenue. Our Maundy Thursday Service on March 20 at 7:30 p.m. will include foot washing, following the example of Jesus. Holy Communion will be celebrated. The candles will be extinguished and the altar stripped.

Our Good Friday Tenebrae (Latin word for shadows or darkness) Service on March 21 at 7:30 p.m. will focus on the last Words of Jesus from the Cross-as recorded in scripture. Worshippers will respond in singing, prayer and individual meditation as the light in the room moves from light to darkness. St. Michael’s Liturgical Dancers will dance to “O Sacred Head Now Wounded” and “Were You There”.

Easter Day worship on March 23 at 11 a.m. will be a joyous celebration of the Resurrection of Our Lord with Holy Communion, liturgical dancing and special music. A continental breakfast from 9 a.m.to 10:30a.m. will precede the service. Children are welcome at all services and an Easter egg hunt for all children will be held following service.
