As part of a new campagin to provide an identity to the United Church of Christ, an ad campaign was designed to invite people of all colors, all races and all gender orientation to worship.
But, both NBC and CBS have refused to run the ads. According to a written explanation from CBS, the United Church of Christ is being denied network access because its ad implies acceptance of gay and lesbian couples -- among other minority constituencies -- and is, therefore, too "controversial." Liberal media, my ass. http://www.ucc.org/news/u113004a.htm

The media is taking a giant step to the right. Or the red. Whatever.
Another great piece by Frank Rich, who always seems to be reading my mind: The Nascar Nightly News: Anchorman Get Your Gun http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/05/ar...ogin&8hpib Excerpt: Quote:

I was very disappointed with the networks for not airing the UCC ads. I have not seen them and do not know their specific content, but from what I have heard they promote increased tolerance and respect for diversity.
The networks, again seem to have caved into the fanatical demands of the far-right religious zealots... I hope we can all speak up and make sure that diverse perspectives are heard, appreciated and respected- not just the narrow-minded, falsely pious moral pedantics of the right-wingers... :what_is_:
