As for bishops, if Bishop Bennison is removed, I pray that the Diocese of Pennsylvania gets the same healing kind of person that New Jersey got after its debacle of some ten years ago with its former Bishop.
The present Bishop, George Councell, has been aptly described by one person as "the holiest bishop she ever met." I echo that sentiment. There was a very strong disagreement between our vestry and the interim rector last year (it must be me, they seem to retire once I show up!

) After it was all over and he could have just written it off, Bishop Councell came himself to meet not only with the Vestry, but the entire parish; he didn't bring any mediators or staff to deflect things on to them. He did it himself and told us it was no holds barred; he would take whatever punches we had to throw and that the problems ultimately resided at his doorstep.
