I read this Wall Street Journal Article. Truly shocking. The Russian Orthodox Church during the Soviet-era was corrupted by the KGB. Prior to the Soviets, it was an arm of the czar. Now, it appears to be doing the bidding of Putin.
Although a defrocked Orthodox priest looks on the bright side:
