I don't know, have you read much about Mormonism? Try Jon Krakeur's "Under the Banner of Heaven," which is both disturbing and completely engaging.

My favorite part of the Book of Mormon is the theory that the American Indians were turned dark because of sin, and once they saw the light they would become "white and delightful."

Years ago I read the Book of Mormon and saw that it was simply an attempt to indicate that Jews had founded America and that it is in fact a Holy Land. Back in the days when Indians still owned the land and there was conflict over it, that must have been a very appealing rationalization.

Lately, I learned more due to the release of a film dealing with an incident where the original Mormons slaughtered twenty some innocent non-Mormons who stumbled on them. I missed the film, but enjoyed reading about Mormonism to a greater degree.

I believe there's a lapsed Mormon site if you google it. I'll look and post the info.

Some highlights:

Jesus: A superman from another planet.

Jesus Superpowers: Anyone can get them if they're a Mormon and work their way up the ladder in the church (Red Alert).

Church: The guys at the top are seen as nearing divine Jesus power (Red Alert).

Mormons = Jews

That is in the eyes of Mormons, but not Jews of course (Humor Alert).

Due to the views on Jesus, all other forms of Christianity have denounced Mormonism.

Who cares, if you're not religious, or are extremely liberal on the topic?

The problem I see is with normal humans, once again, thinking they're the chosen people, but with the extra added bonus of thinking they have magic powers, or can get them.

Does this guy think his status is the result of his Jesus powers? Will the heads of his church control him, as they are close to full Jesus powers. It certainly seems likely, and it seems equally probable that he would "lie" about it because the rest of us can't handle their amazing plugged in realities.

How can you trust such a person?

He could be the nicest man in the world, or a guy swimming in a secret psychotic thought process which colors his entire world.

Do you like what we have now?

Mormon could be him on steroids.

Seriously, Bush has said that he's been inspired by "god" (not Jesus because Bush killed, what 24 people) and has heard his voice, or something, correct.

Imagine a guy who has been taught since birth that position is a sign that one is becoming Jesus, not just hearing from him, or feeling him at work as third party. It's outrageous to me, and even more so since the average American knows nothing about religion, it's all just sweet stuff to most.

Dear, it was a joke. Have a beer. Spark up a fattie. Take a laxative. Unclench.

One sentence from Rommney:

"freedom REQUIRES religion."

wow.

will he lock up those of us who don't require religion to think freely?

I only read his speech...I did not visualize his affect.

Anyone who is seriously commited to a spiritual path or sincerely religious probably does NOT run for public office because :
POLITICS IS FOR BORN (AGAIN) LIARS.

I took a laxative last night and it kicked in with cramping and nausea right when 30 Rock started! Do you know of anything that works with my body and will make me feel natural?

I have to say that every Mormon I've met is very nice. On the other hand, Mormonism is pretty odd when you look at the history. As is Judaism and Christianity.

I resent the idea that you need to be religious to have morals.
