I am interested in Buddhist philosophy and have thought about taking a meditation classes at the center. Probably will take one of the classes on thursdays when it pops up.

So what's the deal with this place? Can one go and just listen to lecture on Buddhist ethics or learn Buddhist meditation techniques without having some monk or new age wonk trying to recruit my dollars to help find the reincarnated being of some recently dead church elder?
