Default pool questions

hi:

There's a pool on South Street between 26th and 27th on (Taney and South to be exact).

I'd like to take my kids to it... Can anyone tell me if it's a public pool?

What is a public pool anyway? Can anyone just go there and swim or is there an application or do I need ID or something?

If the pool at Taney and South isn't public, where is there one outside near 20th and Christian where I could take my kids?

Thanks.

We go to the Taney pool all the time. It does not have a separate kids area but it does have a roped off area. It also has a schedule and you can't always get in when it's open. I believe 11 a - 1 p is reserved for summer camps. 1 - 2 or 3 is family swim (everyone welcome). 2 or 3 to 5 MWF girls swim, T TH boys, 5 - 6 family swim and 6 - 7 adults only. Weekends are like 1 - 6 family swim. It's good to go on a hour on the weekend because they can only accommodate 60 people at a time and sometimes a line queues and they will switch on the hour making everyone leave and let knew people in.

It's open and free to the public. Just a few rules like you have to wear a swimsuit - no shorts. No pool toys, etc.

I walked by the pool at Marian Anderson the other day, it looks great, clean, calm, not too crowded, but getting used. I think it was family hour, which means kids allowed with adult supervision. I have to get by there this week, especially with the 90 degree days coming up.
