Anybody have an idea on the timetable for that? I hope it's modeled after Sue's Market (18th and Chestnut) which is amazing in my opinion.
I was told optimistically August 1st.

I don't think a bar with above average food stands out THAT much in this city. It's like SPTR, it's cool for where and what it is, but you don't necessarily see people seek it out who don't live in the hood. I guess the word gastropub may be the culprit in this instance as it is subjective. So let me re-phrase by saying we need something along the lines of Royal Tavern in this hood. At least that is my personal opinion.
Fair enough.

And you were right when you said using the term "gastropub" was the culprit. Having said that, I was going by something akin to Wikipedia's definition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastropub), which I guess means the difference wasn't subjective in this instance. (Since it sounds like you agree with me that the fare at Sidecar is definitely a cut above standard "pub grub.")

Perhaps I just haven't experienced the inconsistency you have. My experience with the food (and drinks) at Sidecar has been consistently far above average.

And judging from all the taxis I often see dropping off & picking up people there, I definitely think those who don't live in the 'hood do seek it out.

My only complaint is that, lately, it can often be very hard to get a seat. So, though I agree the 'hood could use some places like Standard Tap, Royal Tavern, N. 3rd, Good Dog, etc. I also wouldn't mind seeing a couple/few more Sidecars around here. Or Pumpkins... or Trias.

Sues Market sells very fresh fruits and veggies, and their prices are really fair. I highly recommend it, and would be overjoyed if we had some good produce in the area.

What street/block is Pumpkin Produce going to be on? I scrolled through the thread and couldn't find anything. Thanks!
