I heard that a 'bar' was going to open there and not allow children so that aging hipster doofuses could discuss urban development using the F-word and play Gals Panic at the same time.

*Groan*

Please don't start this conversation on this thread. I am giving tempers a little longer to cool before I reopen the "kids in bars" thread.

Chaucer's was never a great place. It was decent at one time, but then it took a serious nosedive.

Last time I was there, we practically had to serve ourselves. Then the manager had the nerve to ask us why we didn't tip the waitress well.

Someone told me that Jack was no longer there. True?

It was an unpretentious place that had a good beer selection, outdoor seating, and usually had space in the back where you could have a conversation without screaming. Perhaps that's not what you want but it didn't make it a bad place. IMO, there is always room for those kinds of places.

Yeah, ditto that. We liked (like?) it there for the same reasons. And the food we've had has nearly always been great. (And, especially during happy hours, pretty cheap.)

On a side note seems to me that the 10 stone has been really going down hill I hope it doesn't try to fill in where Chaucer's leaves off.
