We actually need a bigger lot for Wegmans...it makes Trader Joe's look like the corner convenience store...

Ok. Clearly I was joking about the Popeyes, but on a more serious note I know for a fact (or at least from a good source) that the whole foods at 21st is moving to 16th and vine and a best buy is also moving there. Right now there is an empty parking lot, but soon Whole foods and Best Buy. This is not a rumor... I repeat... This is not a rumor!

Of course it's not a rumor, but you would seem to be channeling the late Will Rogers ("All I know is what I read in the papers.") The 16th & Vine project with Best Buy and Whole Foods has been written up several times in the local papers over the past year or so.

2. The guy that owns the Artisan on Bainbridge between 15th and Broad recently put in a bid, higher than the Rendazzo's bid.

Does anyone know any more details than this? If the guy who owns the Artisan ends up with the property that would be great for the area because he builds a great house and he builds it really fast. I would think they could put in 6-8 decent size houses on the Bainbridge club property (3-4 on Bainbridge and 3-4 on Kater).
So has anybody heard any new rumors on this front? I occasionally see people looking around the Bainbridge Club, but it always seems like (morbid) curiosity more than prospective development.
I can't think of many other properties that actually manage to blight two city blocks (1500 of kater and 1500 of bainbridge).

For those of you who might be interested in the history of the Bainbridge Club & Hotel Brotherhood, W.E.B.DuBois' book entitled The Philadelphia Negro: A Social Study is on line and the Hotel Brotherhood is described on page 227.
