Yes, it's called the Law of Supply and Demand.

I believe Cava owns half of the land behind Kimball and someone else owns the other half and I heard there were plans to build. It's going to be a really nice block...regardless of the industrial buildings backing up to them.

PS We're told part of the latter stages of this development plan includes a 5-story building on the NW corner of Washington & 20th (location of the old Cava building at the moment), which will be ground floor retail & condos above.

Yeah, last week when I went to the "twilight open house" for The Towns at Kimball, which I believe are all only on the south side of the street (facing Center City), I also stopped in to one of the other developments across the street. (At this point it looks like there are two separate developments on the north side of Kimball, which I don't think are affiliated with Cava at all.) Those are also very nice, but they don't have garages, which I think makes them a somewhat harder sell (especially in light of the fact that there is no parking on Kimball).

But I guess you're talking about the League Street land. Yes, I heard something like that too. We also were told that this currently developing 1900 block of Kimball Street will be the only full block of completely new houses in Philly when it's done.

That seems like an odd claim, what about all the Westrum stuff? Those are full blocks of new stuff. How about half of Hawthorne? 16th between Catharine and Christian is all new, or at least only a few years old.

Yeah I thought it was a bit surprising too, but maybe they have some other criteria they are factoring in. (Maybe it will be the number of homes this block will ultimately have that will set some sort of record?)

Where's "the Westrum stuff?" Is that Packer Park? If so I'm thinking maybe they're not counting stuff that far south.

Houses look like sh!t. They could've made an alley and had the parking IN BACK of the buildings. The garage doors are sooo low-budget. Did they pick them up at a home depot garbage sale (yes garbage, not garage).

Seriously g-ho people, your neighborhood has increased so much in value in recent years. The devolpers can afford to put up QUALITY now. Fight for it. Don't you have any damn neighborhood group?

I'm sure someone in denial will say "its a matter of taste" or "people are building crap in other places".

Where you from, Russia?

I suppose if you're going by the online photos alone you might have that impression. But I don't think the pictures (particularly of the exteriors) on the website do these houses justice. You should check them out in person. They are VERY nice. (And no, I DON'T think it was really possible to put an alley in the back.)

Yup, and these houses ARE top quality. (Which is very obvious if you actually come to see them.)
