I recently moved to the neighborhood. I see there is already a long thread dedicated neighborhood resources. Rather than trying different food options randomly I was hoping I could get some recommendations on cheap take out/delivery options in the area (Pizza, Chinese, Mexican, whatever...). Keep in mind I live on 23rd and Christian and might be out of range for a lot of delivery services. As of right now Sidecar seems like my best bet...

I can highly recommend both Southside Pizza (20th between Carpenter & Montrose) and Divan Turkish Kitchen (22nd & Carpenter). Both do take-out & delivery. Southside Pizza is good, for pizza, and cheap cheap. Divan is excellent & not too expensive either, for what you're getting.

Lazaro's. Great everything!!! Their pizza is fantastic! Their wings are also awesome. They come breaded, but I have come to really love them. The trick is to order them "well done" They're huge. Their cheese fries are also the best around...

Sidecar is a great place, as well. Girlfriend and I tried it out for the first time a few weeks ago. It's now in "the rotation." You might also like Grey's Tavern for bar food.

There are a few take-out places on South Street, but we've found them to be quite lacking... The place listed above does deliver and is quite good...

For delivery/take-out:

We're huge fans of Randazzo's for pizza (18th & South). Their sicilian is really good and you can feast for $13.

Pico at 15th & South has decent burritos. Delivery is hit or miss--sometimes they'll do it--we usually just pick it up.

I also recommend Divan--sometimes the owner himself delivers...

Also, Square on Square is excellent for Chinese and they'll deliver.

The Chinese restaurant at 23rd St and Christian St is tasty, I've never been disappionted with their service or menu selection 215-545-8666.

Society Hill Pizza on the 1400 block of South St near Broad St 215-545-4747, has good food,fair prices, and delivers.

I live a block from you...here are my favs for takeout:

Pizza and cheesesteaks: Lazaros
Calzones and hoagies: Gusto on 22nd St (it's north of G-ho but they deliver here...do a google, it'll come up)...great spinich/ricotta ones and bbq chicken ones.
Chinese: Szechuan Hunan Chinese Restaurant, although it's a little more expensive than the ones on South St.

My other favorites (not necessarily take-out): Balkan Restaurant (byo), Sidecar, Grace (good burgers), Divan (turkish, byo)

We do Lazaros for pizza and sometimes Gusto.
Sometimes we do take out from Mama palmas(pizza) on Lombard- my personal fav.
We get the Chinese on 22nd street- it is not bad- has gotten fresher since change in ownership. I like my Chinese to be cheap so I have not tried Square on Square
I do takeout from My Thaion 22nd and South
I want to try Divan- they deliver.
Tiffin (Indian- Best of Philly)once delievered to me on 23rd and Catharine- it was an exciting day though not sure if they would do it again
I love the sausage at graces ( I am a little addicted actually)and of course everything at yello'bar is amazing!

You can also go on www.delivery.com and order delivery from a number of area restaurants. I use it constantly and it's just as fast as calling.
