Does that involve music? Don't want to expose kids to that...I hear it does terrible things to their brains...

How about because your kids will most likely see/hear things little kids should not? Next time we're in the same bar I'm doing my blow right off your table, maybe then the point will get through.
When you decided to become a parent you chose, voluntarily, to do whats best for your child. To raise them in a safe, structured enviroment conductive to a healthy lifestyle. Grow up, your a parent now. Don't blame me because you regret it and want you old life back.
I'm sorry you have daddy issues.
I don't go to Chuckie Cheese and get wasted, don't bring Chuckie to my bar.
Roy Rodgers and Shirly Temples were made for non-alcohol drinkers and pregnate women back in the 30's. Thats "what the *ell" they were invented for. (Please watch your language, kids could be reading this.)
Its not illegal to bring your kid to a bar, but its not respectable either. It's not illegal for me to stop showering either but I sill shower. You confuse legailty, ethics and morals. Please think about the similarities/differences amongst the three..
The bottom line is "informed choice." I am making an informed choice to get trashed at 5pm, your kid has no data with which to make an informed decision (if you even give him one) about going to a bar.
Wow. I'm guessing that you won't realize how silly this sounds until (or unless) you have kids.

Guru, as I mentioned in an earlier post, we are not talking about bringing a toddler to Dirty Frank's while Mommy does shots. We are talking about the whole family having a peaceful meal in a place that has both an extensive beer list AND a great food menu.

It isn't about wanting to pretend we're single and childless again. I am not sure how many ways or how many times the distinction can be made between Jager shot at McGlinchey's and lunch at Standard Tap. You're a bartender? You should be able to identify these distinctions better than most.

You mean to tell me I shouldn't do that?

At least not after 4pm, apparently.

i usually just keep my kid in the bjorn that way i have a place (namely his head) to line up my shots and blow. it is a lot easier than bending all the way down to the bar.

That's right. Better for your children's well-rounded upbringing and development if you keep them at home in their cages where they are safe from exposure to things like other people, adults responsibly socializing, non-Barney music, sports on tv's, cursing, and smoke....oh wait, there no smoke in the bars anymore. Well, better safe than sorry anyway. Guru has convinced me. I'm writing this post from Chuckie Cheese where my child and I are going to spend the next years of his sheltered childhood eating pizza, drinking soda-pop, and playing video games.

I repent! I have been ruining my poor innocent child's chance for happiness in life by going to our local gastropubs all this time. Sidecar, Ten Stone, Yellobar.....farewell my favorite pubs! - why you ever welcomed my family with such open arms I'll never understand. Our souls are lost now because of your late afternoon catering to us.....

I don't think theres anything wrong with bringing your kids to a gastro-pub... Hell, my family would usually go out to dinner once a week or so at one of the local sports bars. We didn't sit at the BAR, but would grab a table. Sure, we occasionally heard some profanity, but it's nothing I didn't learn when I was 8 or 9 or so anyway.

Maybe guru could help lead the group to get some of those nasty books removed from the Free Library too. I done f*cked up and let my daughter read A Wrinkle in Time, Harry Potter, Little Women, The Witches, and more obscenities that I can only imagine.

Hey now don't confuse the issue about me getting my eats on with you allowing your child to be corrupted by the literary devil. For shame as every good parent knows all of these books should be burned burned!

http://www.ala.org/ala/alonline/curr...cfm#potterburn

You frighten me and my pedestrian ways with your imparting of worldly knowledge on your children. I only want mine exposed to profanity, coke whores who dine at gastro-pubs from 4-7pm, and beer induced belching.
