Perhaps they were referring to this crime below. Cleveland runs between 18th & 19th - this address is one block below Washington, so not in our area. Yet, I think I heard on the news that the cops are looking for this guy around 18th & 19th and Christian. Cops hunting for man in S. Phila. rape Detectives have released a sketch of a man sought in the rape of a 23-year-old South Philadelphia woman on Sunday. According to police, the woman was attacked about 5:30 a.m. by an intruder who forced his way through a rear door into a residence on Cleveland Street near Ellsworth. The attacker demanded money, then sexually assaulted the victim at knifepoint. He fled with $22, a Dell Inspiron laptop computer, a cell phone, a Comcast cable box and the victim's ID, she told police. The man is described as a black male in his mid 20s, 5 feet 9 to 6 feet tall, 140 pounds, with a light-brown complexion, thin muscular arms and unkempt braids. Tipsters can contact the Special Victims Unit at 215-686-3251 or -3252. *

On Action News they said '1900 block of Christian'. Heard it as clear as day.
Maybe they misspoke? Dunno. But he said 'Christian'.

Yes, my wife and I were burglarized last Monday. We live on 19th & Pemberton near 20th. They came in a second story back window. The gate to all of 19th & Pemberton's and Bainbridge's back yards is broken. This has been a security risk for awhile, but no one (including myself) had done anything about it. We just had a security system installed and are in the process of having a gate/door to the backyards done. However, there are several other access points that are not secure. A neighbor and I are going to address these. We will put out the money and just hope the rest of the blocks will contribute after - hope hope.

Sketch leads to arrest of airport worker for rape By Barbara Boyer INQUIRER STAFF WRITER Despite efforts to change his appearance, a man working at a Philadelphia International Airport restaurant was arrested after coworkers noticed his resemblance to a composite drawing, police said. Idris Randolph, 21, of the 200 block of North Wilton Street, is charged with rape, aggravated assault, burglary and a long list of related offenses for the July 13 attack on a woman in her apartment in the 1100 block of South Cleveland Street. Police said he broke into the woman's apartment about 5:30 a.m. and stole various items, including a laptop computer, cell phone, cable box and $22. As the victim begged the man not to rape her and pleaded for her life, he sexually assaulted her at knifepoint, said Capt. John Darby of the Special Victim's Unit. "This was a vicious assault in this individual's residence," said Darby. "I've said this before. It's about as bad as it gets when you are inside your residence and you don't have a sense of security there." The victim worked with Officer Roderick "Scratch" Scratcherd to develop the composite distributed to the media and posted throughout the city. Late last week, police said, Officers Michael Kennedy and Michael Iannacone, assigned to the airport, received tips that the sketch resembled a restaurant employee who recently had altered his appearance. "Someone saw that, looked at the similarities . . . and then passed those suspicions on," Darby said. Special Victim's Officer Cheryl Monzo then began looking into Randolph. Among the corroborating evidence, the victim identified the man as the assailant, picking him out of a photo array, Darby said. An arrest warrant was issued and Randolph turned himself in Sunday. Scratcherd, who has been an artist for 28 of his 29 years with the department, said it felt "great" hearing that an arrest had been made based on the composite. He uses computer images and drawings to make composites, which usually takes about 90 minutes. "It's like a puzzle," Scratcherd said. "When she says that is the person, that's when I stop."
