Someone asked about neighborhood banks in another thread, so I thought I'd mention that we do have one -- Sharon Savings Bank, 1900 South Street. There's a website but it doesn't seem terribly up to date -- unless there hasn't been any news for a year. However, according to the site they offer internet banking and they also have an external ATM.

From Peter Ehrenkranz via Southwest_center_city (the yahoo! group), some info on getting folks to work on alley cleaning:
"Joann Killebrew at the Early Action Revitalization Network. The numbers I have are 215 685 3071 and 215 685 3073. I believe this service is part of The City Managing Director's office. "They organize folks who owe community service hours to do cleanups. They will not pick up every last piece of paper like you will, but they will get the bulk stuff out of there... (and might do more if you are working alongside them). "We used this last year or so for cleanups of the 2000 block of Clymer as well as the 2000 and 2100 alleyway between Catharine and St. Albans. It was very easy to arrange. "If you call and find out the numbers are changed or the service is no longer available, please do let everyone else know."

hummm... when I mentioned this in a different thread I was told by some that it was a bad idea and that I was crazy.

Haven't seen this noted in the thread yet, but apparently the astral plane has served its last meal and both the building and business are for sale. I don't know what that makes the status (temporarily closed?), but the article seems to imply you can't eat there for the time being.

Bump. Been awhile since we worked on the checklist of neighborhood resources. Post updates to this thread and I'll come through and put them all on that first post sooner or later.
(Reminder to self: add 2008 cleanup dates: May 10, July 12, August 23)

Hee. South Valley thread is back in SWCC, now that it's clear that it's a feature, not a discrete event. I'm going to remove the previous two posts.
