SOSNA staff hasn't sent the bulk e-mail to its e-list yet, but other community residents have gotten hold of the notice and circulated it to their neighbors. AHB picked it up and posted it on southwest_center_city, and I picked it up there and posted it on LJ's thread about the Odunde senior citizen project. Rather than duplicate it here, I refer you to this post:

Still haven't seen the final agenda -- though hard copies apparently do exist as they were available at the SOSNA general meeting. I'll post the official one here if and when I receive it. A. |

We're new to the area (actually, my husband prefers "JNOWA" as more descriptive for our particular block than "G-Ho," but I'm not holding my breath to see if *that* sticks
).We've been lurking for awhile, & are learning a ton of great info on our new 'hood, but now have some specific q's on which we could use guidance: a) can someone post a SOSNA rules/ charter link? b) is there, in fact, a regular schedule of General meetings, or are they on random Wednesday evenings? |

You should be able to find the bylaws online at SOSNA's website...
www.southofsouth.org As for meetings...General meetings are on the second wednesday of each month. You should be able to find announcements on this thread (location, time, content) You can also sign up for email alerts on the SOSNA site. LB, the moderator here, is an excellent notetaker. She hones her skills at various community meetings. Her recent work can be viewed here... http://www.southphillyblocks.org/sosna/ |

The next SOSNA Board Meeting is scheduled for 10/25/06 (Wednesday), at the St. Anthony Senior Center, 7:00 p.m.
Two issues likely to be on the meeting's agenda... I presume there will be a lively discussion about the recent board election. Belinda Mayo from the Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD) will be in attendance. New officers of the board will be chosen (Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Recording Secretary, Coporate Secretary, Treasurer and Controller). All are welcome and encouraged to come out! |

Deborah Williams was kind enough to send me an electronic copy of the meeting notice, which I reproduce below.
Please note two things about this meeting: first, the starting time is advertised as 7:00 rather than 7:30, the normal start time; and, second, I believe the membership will be asked to ratify the appointment of a board member, something which the community may want to discuss as there is another vacancy and there are some very important issues facing the board right now. I would ask that if folks want to discuss the content of this meeting, or approaches to the future of SOSNA as a neighborhood assocation, this conversation happen on a separate thread. If/when that thread is active, I'll build a link to it from this post. I continue to hope that we can keep this post for meeting announcements. ----------------- GENERAL MEETING Wednesday, November 8, 2006 @ 7:00 PM Graduate Hospital Boehm Auditorium 18th & South Street Main Entrance (North side) BOARD OF REVISION OF TAXES GUEST SPEAKERS: EUGENE DAVEY Director of Assessments Barry Mescolotto Administrative Assistant to Mr. Davey ********************* CAPTAIN KEVIN J. BETHEL Commanding Officer 17th District *********************** MEET NEW SOSNA BOARD MEMBERS

I've pasted in the meeting notification for a special SOSNA board meeting. This meeting appears to be in violation of SOSNA's bylaws, which clearly state that only one topic may be discussed at a meeting, although I suppose a case could be made that all of the issues flow from OHCD's rejection of SOSNA's counter-offer on the NAC contract. The rationale behind this extended board meeting perhaps should be a part of questions from the floor at the general meeting on November 8.
