Hey Jak....I'm just curious if you guys are aware that if they do make that a crossing at grade, that the trains will be required to blow their horns every time they cross day and night. Just something for the nearby residents to consider.
[MODERATOR EDIT: This is a thread for meeting notices. I've already PMd Jakdracula and asked him if we could move the link to the "resources" thread. Please, if you want to discuss the park and CSX, you might want to do one of two things: start a separate thread for it here in South West Center City, or take the conversation to one of the many threads about it that exist elsewhere on Phillyblog. I'll look for the threads and re-edit this with links. --lbphilly] Last edited by lbphilly : 05-12-2006 at 06:21 PM. |

Thanks, ahb! Here's the latest email from SOSNA Econ Dev Chair Peter Ehrenkranz. If you have a proposal for the Econ Dev Cttee for the next round, please fill out the proposal outline for it, using the format below, and bring:
"The next SOSNA Ec Dev Committee Meeting is Wednesday May 23rd at 7pm at Graduate Hospital's basement auditorium. [The meeting is, in fact, on TUESDAY 5/23. Thanks, Peter] The goal of the meeting is to decide on at least 2 proposals to bring forward at the 5/31 SOSNA board meeting for funding. If you would like to present a project, please let me know so that I can put you on the agenda. I would ask that you come to the meeting with a formal proposal including a budget and a timeline. (You can use the format that we used at the last meeting). If you need another copy of this let me know. The outline of the topic areas is below. A special thank you to Renee for all of her work getting our first program up and running. Center City Districts should begin cleaning the sidewalks along South and 22nd this week. See you next week, Peter ------------------ Outline of proposal: Proposal for Economic Development Project 1. Title of project 2. Brief outline of project (must include range of objectives according to $ and time available—may continue on back of page if needed) 3. Committee members involved 4. Potential subcontractors 5. Potential business/community partners/stakeholders 6. Other potential funding sources 7. Benefits (to people, community, businesses, traffic...) 8. Barriers and how they will be overcome 9. Potential unintended consequences 10.Timeline (again think in terms of range of possibilities according to $/time) 11. Budget" ______________________________ Peter Ehrenkranz, MD, MPH 2113 Clymer St / Philadelphia, PA 19146 home/fax: 215-790-0669 / cell: 215-432-6899 Last edited by ljlong : 05-15-2006 at 06:02 PM. |

I received a mailing from the 17th District. It appears to be for two meetings:
One for June 13 at 5:30 pm One for June 14 at 6:30 p.m. The June topic is "houses and lots, etc." and the speaker is Ms Gayle Johns, Licenses and Inspections Both of these meetings are at the 17th Police District, 20th & Federal Street. Contact is Horace L. Gibson, Jr., community officer, 215-685-1747. I note that the second meeting will conflict with the regularly scheduled SOSNA meeting.

I just got a mailing for the June 13th meeting. It will focus on "quality of life and crime issues." As it starts at 5:30pm, I may even be able to attend if they don't mind a baby in tow. However, I'm not so sure I want to walk all the way down to Federal by myself.
