Default South Street Bridge Coalition

A design charette will be held at the Philadelphia School at 2501 Lombard Street, on Saturday morning, March 8th starting at 9 AM, that includes a visioning workshop looking in depth at certain aspects of the Bridge. Members of the greater community are encouraged to attend and participate in the visioning workshop. From this workshop, the Coalition hopes to develop a set of guiding principles that will help the designers give us a more friendly and context sensitive Bridge.

Whether or not you can attend, the most important thing is to write our Council President and Mayor, as well as State Rep. Josephs and Senator Fumo, asking them for their support for a better bridge. Here are the addresses:

State Representative Babette Josephs
1528 Walnut Street
Suite 1901
Philadelphia, PA 19102

Council President Anna C. Verna
Room 494 City Hall
Philadelphia, PA 19102

Mayor Michael Nutter
Room 215 City Hall
Philadelphia, PA 19102

Senator Vincent J. Fumo
1208 Tasker Street
Philadelphia, PA 19148

Regular mail is the most effective way to let our representatives know of our concerns. Write if you're concerned.

From a recent email received from SOSNA...
Quote:
SOUTH STREET BRIDGE COALITION

There will be a general meeting and a visioning workshop, also commonly called a design charette, held to address what many in the neighborhood perceive to be design and safety shortcomings of the proposed Bridge design.

Thursday evening, March 6th, starting at 6:30 pm there will be a pre-charette meeting to discuss the status of the Bridge and the objectives of the design charette and what we hope to accomplish - in other words, to help set the agenda.

On Saturday morning, starting at 9:00 am there will be visioning workshop looking in depth at certain aspects of the Bridge.

Both the pre-charette meeting and the design charette will be held at the Philadelphia School at 2501 Lombard Street.

Members of the greater community are encouraged to attend and participate in the visioning workshop. From this workshop we hope to develop a set of guiding principles that will help the designers give us a more friendly and context sensitive Bridge.

However, whether or not you can attend, the most important thing that we all must do is to write our Council President and Mayor asking them for their support for a better Bridge.

Together, we will make a big step toward making Philadelphia a really great city.
Pre Charette
6:30PM
Thursday, March 6th

Design Charette
9:00AM
Saturday, March 8th

I heard there's a possibility that a general meeting will be combined with the zoning meeting this month. If that is the case, I believe that meeting would take place next Wednesday. In any event, notification should be forthcoming shortly.

i just noticed the zoning list...does this mean someone bought (or wants to buy) 2200 Catharine? That's Lucky Day, no? Or is it that nastier building across the street? Either way, this could be great news.

2200 Catharine would be on the south side of the street. So I don't think it's Lucky Day, although it could still be our lucky day, if you get my drift.
