I just walked past the Rosewood Bar on Rosewood and Shunk. I counted three "smokers welcome" signs.
I don't care if they smoke there, because I don't go to that bar, but how do they get away with this? Other still-smoking bars in the area at least have signs that say no smoking. |

I was informed a while ago by a bartender that the smoking restrictions are partially based on how much food a bar serves. She said that if the food being served came to less than 10% of the bars intake, then smoking is permitted.
She may be wrong of course, anyone else know?

Thus raising the question..... why do more bars not allow smoking? A lot of bars do serve food, but rarely do, yet there is still no smoking.
McKenna's in Fairmount for example, some bartenders there let it go, but it is a non-smoking bar.

some laws are grandfathered in. Mr. Nutter with nothing to do, kept pushing to change them every time on passed. Most N'hood joints just take the little fine if caught. I just enjoyed a nice weekend out of Philly, where they still offer smoking at the bar and in fine restaurants. Our city in it's effort to be 'PC' is AS$ backwards. In MO, it should be up to the owners.

If you are worried about lung disease, then don't go there.
'Course, you know South Philly butts up next to a gigantic oil refinery... It's like the whole city turned into Packers2 when the Ban came up for debate. "Oh let's not do anything about the murder rate, we need to take care of that nasty smoking!" ![]()
