Does anyone know what this years murder total is up to?

And today's count as of this morning: 151, as compared to 185 for the same date last year. Down over 18% (the percentage is adjusted daily, but YTD, is hovering at about 22% decrease over last year, which had a 20%+ decrease over the year before.)

yes; as of today, it's 151 murders, down from 185 this time last year.

If you are last at something there is only one way to go.

I don't believe there was a 20% last year and if there was a 20% decrease I don't care. A 20% decrease would mean the previous year there was close to 500 murders. Am I supposed to be impressed with only 400 murders? I wonder if the city lists that in the tourist guides.

When I am named Commissioner of the Universe:

1. I will start by banning the Mummers.

2. Swift justice. Death penalty for repeat offenders.

3. Arrest Marvin Harrison. His gun was used in a shooting.

4. The city should stop doctoring the numbers. Last year the city was dubbed "Murderdelphia", now someone is trying to say the murder count was down last year. Bullchit!

I suggest the city does what John Timmony wanted to do when he was here and ACCURATELY report the crimes. Once the city has an accurate account of where and when the majority of crimes take place they can then properly deploy the cops to the high crime areas. I want the majority of the cops in the areas with the majority of crimes. That doesn't happen if the city is giving bullchit numbers.

The murder rate will go down as soon as enough of these people are killed off but the other varmint. plain and simple

Please, oh please, tell us how you fudge the numbers when it comes to dead bodies?

If you don't find the body the person is considered missing. If someone doesn't die on the day they are shot sometimes the death can be related to something else other than the attacker. Theres probably a lot more I'm not thinking of.
