Default Dickinson Square?

How is the area around Dickison Square? Saw a few decent places in my price range down there.

Typically I've always heard that the "best" of South Philly safety wise is the area contained by tasker/snyder and broad/9th.

There are some blocks there that are still in transition, and there are some blocks that are fully of families with particularly noisy kids, but it's not bad overall.

I Love this area, honestly. I have lived in almost every nook and crany neighborhood in philly and finally eneded up buying just off the park on Tasker Street. The one guy, Ron, is head of Friends of Dickinson and does a great job of taking care of the park and has been improving it by leaps and bounds (even getting a dog run this summer). The community has also put alot of effort and you can see them on most Saturday out at the park cleaning it up.

All that being said, sadly I'm relocating to west coast for my job in 3 weeks. My house is for sale, if you're interested just private message me and I'll give you details.

I rent a home not too far from the park, have been here a little over a year, and we have had no trouble at all.
(except for a stolen bike tire)
Good luck with your house hunting.

I have been living in that area for almost 3 years and I think it is a good place to live. The price is decent, it is close to a lot of stuff (Bella Vista, Queens Village and Passyunk Square) and the neighbors are really friendly. I volunteer with the Friends of Dickinson Square. There are a great group of people.
BTW, there is a big movie shoot going on in the park today. Does anyone know what the name of the movie is?

Thumbs up Life fronting Dickinson Square

I'm somewhat prejudice but not only do I think Dickinson Square is a great neighborhood but within the next couple years it will be an amazing place to live and the park will be more beautiful than it ever was. I'll bet a dollar to a dime that there will be people kicking themselves because they could have bought here and passed it up..................I've been here for 26 years.
