I think you can still get most of those items on some ice cream trucks still. Or maybe i'm just getting old and think its still like when i was a kid. I feel that most of the candy shops around make their own stuff.

I don't know of a place that still sells good stuff like this but I did use http://www.oldtimecandy.com/ to send a similar gift to my sister for her 50th. It was a big hit.

There are a few places I can think of that aren't in South Philly but are worth checking out anyway.

The first is Chocolate by Mueller in the Reading Terminal Market. I know they have the candy cigarettes and a lot more stuff besides just chocolate. You can give them a call or just stop by. If you are headed to the RTM, you can also go by the Amish candy place. They have an interesting selection and I always got my circus peanuts there.

If you want to head to Old City, there is Shane Candies which has been around forever. Maybe they have something you might want.

It sounds like you are getting together a nice gift - Good luck!!

Some of the corner stores down here still carry candy cigarettes and baked beans. Not sure of the others. There's one on Tasker near 12th Street that I know has them because that's usually one of the only places I can find lemonheads in the neighborhood plus I picked up the candy cigarettes for a friend who was trying to quit smoking.

if you feel like taking a little ride, try "SCOOPS" on New Jersey Ave around 11th in North WildWood. They have it all. B-b-bats, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Chick-o-sticks, etc.

I think the only place you can still get that stuff is online. Here's one source:
