Not sure which bread baking dynasty you are talking about but not all homes in Phila or South Philly are small rows. There are large homes in Girard Estate, Packer Park, THe Reserves, and other new developments

How about South Philadelphia Magazine ? That is straight and to the point. And the title is generic enough to be able to cover just about any topic (related to S. Philly). |

It's like a magazine called rittenhouse Square Townhouse only featuring the vast houses on Delancey. |

Deceiving title. I thought it was going to be about decorating row homes and such.... The one I picked up a long time ago featured some huge $400,000 house on Christian Street or something. I love decorating. I love my row home. I don't love the magazine. That's all.

Hi everyone - just to clarify something. I am the publisher of a web site called RowHouse Magazine. This is a free, non-advertisarial web site promoting row houses and row house living all over the world. It's not in print... yet. It's not Philly centric although Philly is a wonderful row house city with lots of material and the place I call home.
Some of you have been asking for a publication that discusses design, domestic living, history... and I do all of that. I am trying to cover as much as I can but I have a small volunteer staff (most rowhouse dwellers themselves) so we're just doing our best at this point. Please, I would love help... if you have a row house you'd like to share or story ideas, please let us know - suzanne@rowhouse-magazine.com! We're down to earth, friendly, and really believe in row houses and how important and fabulous they are. By the way... I live in an 800 square foot trinity with my husband and kid... I know small spaces. But I love the grand large homes as well. We've also done some of the 1920s homes in Queens, New York... and even medieval homes in the UK. Modern is great... traditional is great... everything is awesome! We love the top of the line luxuries and people who are really creative with curb finds and salvage. The point is diversity of architecture, city, and residents. If you think this is a great idea, please contact us.!! We're making friends all the time and it's great to meet awesome row house people. And we can't do it without support. Last edited by 1834_RowHaus : 07-29-2008 at 10:02 AM. Reason: add copy |

I've seen http://www.rowhouse-magazine.com, and I like it!
Interestingly, or maybe not, I recently contacted South Philly Review and offered to submit on spec some rowhouse-centric house and garden articles, and would they have any interest in trying out one or two. They said they'd tried it in the past and there was no interest in such a feature. I still find that difficult to comprehend, and I'm glad somebody else sees the value in this subject. There's another thread in the South Philly section about LR-DR ideas, with some pics. And another about south philly gardening. They are/were popular, pleasant discussions. People are interested in this stuff. |

If you want good advice that will focus on smaller spaces, check out www.apartmenttherapy.com. There's other stuff, too, but many of the decorating/storage stuff is for small spaces. They even have an annual Smallest/Coolest Apartment contest...

I think the key is to appeal to a wider audience. I have contacts in Boston, NY, Washington DC and Baltimore... all great row house cities. Plus I like to find cities in other countries. It goes way beyond Philly and beyond what Americans find interesting. For example, the size of appliances here is just mammoth compared to Europe. Row houses rule!!! |
