Default Exciting new development in Point Breeze

Just to let everyone know, baring zoning approval the gourp that is working on "The Towns at Kimball" will be starting a new development in Point Breeze come late June. I've been told there will be 18 market rate homes (3 stories) with a car garages on the 2300 of Alter. Currently there is an old warehouse on the site, so expect the demoliton to begin in late June.

The best part is that theyh also plan to open both a philly care share lot on one end of the street and a coffee shop on the other side.

Also, rumor has it that the folks whou bought the chocolate shop are gearing up to present another proposal soon. This one is said to include a grocery store. Could a Wegmans be far behind?

Sounds like a nice piece of progress. Just a quick question, what is the difference between Point Breeze and Newbold?

Depends on who you ask. Techinally NewBold goes from passyunk to Washington, Broad to 18th st. Point Breeze, at least the CDC ther, has been focusing their efforts west of 18th st. However, the city NAC, as well as the plannig commission, defines point breeze as going from Broad to 25th st and washington to Mckean.

"Chocolate shop"...?

Do you by any chance mean the Frankford Chocolate Factory on the north side of Washington Ave? I am confidently expecting any "grocery store" in that development to have far more an Asian feel than a Wegman's or even a Trader Joe's.

I'd say putting something like this...

http://www.thetownsatkimball.com/ (which is here - http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...=16&iwloc=addr)

...over here...

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...=16&iwloc=addr

...is pretty good/exciting news for the area.

Yes, the chocolate factory. It's also my understanding that it wasn't going to be another asian grocer, but rather your typical american grocery store.

That would be cool. Where did you hear that? I've heard rumors along those lines too, but nothing concrete. I've also heard that structure was planned to be turned into condos, but I suspect that might just have been a rumor, started by a realtor to help sell a nearby house.
