I know, as soon as some of you even read the title of this thread, you shuttered... I live a block away and never even stepped foot in this place, well once, about 5 years ago. In case you are not familiar with the bar, it's on the corner of 16th and McKean, and has been a pretty well know nusicance bar, drugs and trouble... actually heard it refered to as Snow-ah's Ark (in regards to its large cocaine problems). BUT I have noticed this past week that not only have they put two giant windows in on the 16th street side, they have been closed and appear to be gutting the place. Now from what I have heard, they are just renovating it, I would think if he was dumping that much cash into it, that maybe he'd be trying to purge the current clientele also, but rumor has it that he won't be getting rid of the pool tables, and to me that will just attract some of the original crowd. Pool tables are great at bars that care about the clientele, but the fact that they have had trouble there, I would say the tables would have to go. So we will see... maybe another tap room-esqu type place? Or Just a renovated corner bar... I hope for the first guess!

No one has any info huh? I've heard two things, either a sports bar, or another Tap room type bar... either one will be a million times better than what it was! Noticed all the windows have now been knocked out and being replaced with nice big windows, instead of the little port-hole windows they used to have.

Is it the same owner?

I think so, I might wonder over tommorow during the day and ask the workers what the deal is. I think the same family owned it for a long time, and according to the guys at the tap room, the guy has been talking about fixing it up for a few months, So I'd imagine it's the same guy.

I don't know anything about the place but I do know it's a bit dodgy waiting for the bus in front of that place...

When I rode my bike by there on the way to work, I noticed some heavy work going on. Hope it's for the good! Some place on the way home for a cold one after a hot summer day with the dogs would be swell.

I have a couple of other customers near there (17th & Mifflin I think) and will ask them too.

cool, let me know, it was pouring today and I never got a chance to walk over there, but they were inside working when I drove by, installed another large window, so even if the bar itself doesn't change, it's already looking 100x better!
