While we're at it, If I could just let my fellow yuppie transplants know that I am determined to hang onto and promote the GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN-wich pronunciation, no matter how many lovely new coffeeshops, roof decks, or dog parks we get.

you know, I never liked the philly accent. just thought I'd say that to win the popular vote, lol.

(I'm from the Lehigh Valley, but I've been here for over 15 years.) (and I don't have a dutchie accent, either!)

Thank you for hanging on to the Greeeenwich, and not allowing it to become Grenich. I grew up on Greenwich st, and always got mad at people for pronouncing it the "new york" way.

Don't forget about Connecticut, either.

I make a deliberate effort to remember it's GREENwich. After all, I would never presume to go to Texas and call the city HOW-ston.

Exactly. I live in the NE, but I tell people "the Bustleton section" or I just say Welsh & Bustelton. But I think that it's crazy what people think the NE is. I've heard reporters say they're reporting from the Bridesburg section of the NE a few times. Am I wrong or is that considered the NE for real?
