Yeah, i mean, what's with this Philadelphia stuff? You live in PENNSYLVANIA!
South Philly is a section of the city, it's a geographic designation, as is the Northeast or West or North or Southwest. No one lives in a "neighborhood" of 300,000 people. Pennsport or Girard Estate doesn't stop being in South Philly because you call it Pennsport or GE. When you're talking to someone from Philadelphia and they tell you that they're from the northeast and you say, "oh yeah? My uncle is in Somerton." and the person you're talking to says "oh, i'm down in Castor Gardens." those places don't stop being in the Northeast just because you're trying to be more precise about your location. You're from Pittsburgh? Yup. What part? East Side. Oh, i've been there before, where? Squirrel Hill. Oh yeah, nice place. |

Listen people,
No matter how much everybody wants to label everything, a la San Francisco and New York, we Soufilly peeps are not about to be called "SoYo" or "SoSo" or "Wolfpack" or whatever. It's SOUFILLY, pronounced just like that. That other post from the guy describing neighborhoods in S. Philly as they do in Pittsburgh is dead on. If you like South Philly enough to live here, PLEASE DON'T TRY TO CHANGE IT!!!!!! |
