Default pics from near 9th & Greenwich

I've been waiting for the Limelight hydrangeas to come out before posting pics. This is the back yard, facing North. These were taken about 5.45-6am today before the light hit. From April - October, it gets direct sun on the back wall all day, and the side walls get part sun. In winter it is nearly all shade, but the evergreen shrubs seem to have done ok their first year. I moved here April 07. I'd like to do something with the concrete block, but I don't know what.

I have some similar plants and wanted to know which ones live through the winter, or are perrenials? I have some chartese and didn't know if it was worth saving....

first squash of the season ready to eat! though it kinda loooks more guordsih. anyway - it was roughly the size of my dog so i took it with him for scale. the relatively mild weather and nice rain bits have helped the garden grow.

the second round of strawberries are also blooming! i didnt know they would be continuous bloom.

this is my first pb picture posting. i'm not sure how to make the photo smaller.

I'd just like to share my South Philly garden with fellow gardeners. I just did the walkway this spring.

I get so much enjoyment from my yard. Gardening is therapy for the stress in my life, and I get excited to see my "children" growing and maturing. It beats drugs!

I'm really not sure where their native to, but they are perennial and I've seen them sold at Home Depot or Lowe's. Last year I bought a bunch of bulbs, roots, and tubers of various species in packaging at Walmart and this was one of them. I had never seen the pink color bleeding heart before. They hardly flowered the first year, but this year they came up in the spring and along with the beautiful hearts, I really like the "lace-y" look of the bush.

Your garden looks great! How did you install the walkway?

I measured and drew out a design that I liked, dug out the grass that was there to enlarge and fill in the beds. My brother-in-law and his helper installed pavers that I picked out at Lowes.
We first had to remove a lot of dirt then layed small stones, then sand, tamped it down and then the bricks. I filled in the grout with a gray sand polymer that I bought at a stone supplier.
