Question Getting to the PHL Airport from Passyunk Sq Area

Any reccomendations? How much do you think a cab would cost? Is it better to take the subway to Suburban and take the R1 (which seems like a hassle) or to drive?

Let me know! We leave tomorrow.

Cab company reccs would be great as well.

Cab is easiest, I can't remember how much it cost last time I did it but it was around $18-$20 one way. The max they will charge is $26. The cab company with the 215-AIR-PORT phone number has always shown up on time when I made an appointment the night before.

Cab vs. drive yourself depends on how long you'll be gone. For a trip of a day or two driving and parking may be a little cheaper, but it's more hassle to park and then take a shuttle bus. For longer trips it's definitely cheaper to just cab it. IMHO, cab is the best way when you consider you'll be dropped off and picked up right outside the terminal. Forget about subway to R1, especially if you've got baggage. The fares for two people on the subway and then the R1 would be almost as much as cab fare anyway.

I've also had good experience with http://www.215airport.com/

I don't know if you'll pay the flat rate going to the airport,
we paid it coming back from PHL to Snyder ave.
But it's worth it not to take the train

Default 37 bus also an option

Based on a previous post on South Philly blog, I took the 37 bus from Broad and Snyder. Board near the NE corner, on Broad, just north of the Walgreens.

About a half hour later, it drops you off at Airport terminal B. Depending on what terminal you're leaving from, you may have to do some walking around once you get there.

I'd say it's only a good option if you're not pressed for time, and you don't mind schlepping your bags.

You can't beat the price, though: $2.20 for a token and a transfer.

Liberty Limo. It's an airport van service, for a flat fee of about $10, last I checked. They ask you when your flight leaves, then cooridinate picking up a few people at a time--so you may be driven around a bit to pick others up. It's great though, if you're solo. For two people, it will cost almost as much as a cab, which is a flat rate of about $27, not including tip.

I did that in Paris once, got a van from the airport and ended up with a nice little intro tour around town including driving around the arch d'triomph (however that's spelled)

There are actually 2 of us. So maybe a cab will be best?

easiest. cheapest is the 37 bus although I'm somewhat puzzled as to why it only stops at one terminal. If you have a transpass, then you can take the subway to the R1 otherwise it's 2*$1.45=$2.90+2*$6=$14.90. That route woudl only save you $12+tip over a cab.

Call Old City cabs. We use them every time we go to the airport. They are always on time (so far!) and it costs $14-$20 depending on traffic. I think we've called them 5 or 6 times and they were on time or 10 min early. We usually call the night before for a morning flight, but they have shown up within 15 minutes for quick, late-night, send some drunk CC friend home.
