So my Comcast digital cable is a little screwed up right now. Oddly, it seems that the news and politics channels are unavailable -- CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, CSPAN. Of course, these are all the channels providing coverage of the NH primaries.

So I called 1-800-COMCAST, and received a message that went something like this:

"Due to an unexpectedly high call volume, we are unable to connect you with a customer service representative at this time. We hope that you can call back again soon."

Customer service at its best. It's Comcastic.

Back to the internets...

yeah it's not just the news channels -- it's basically we're only getting the over-the-air channels at the moment.

luckily internet still works.

i went to call about it... and found out my phone was dead too. that's verizon, so i can't blame comcast, but come on now. what have i done to deserve this?

I had the same cable issues last night - right in the middle of Parking Wars!

I hate Comcast, but it really has been easier to just stick with it.

But I just have to tell you folks if you think you pay too much or see a better promotion with another provider, call Comcast and threaten to leave. I would never pay the list price for their services. That's crazy. And if for some reason, the rep starts to let you leave, hang up and call back. They have retention specialists who are there to make a deal with you.

Default What a pain..

Okay, I used to be a Comcast customer, and now that I have a computer, I'm crawling back to them again.. was trying to price out a plan with basic cable and high speed internet ONLY. This plan was 70 dollars a month on the website and 110 a month on the phone? What is the deal?

Also, If I am a previous customer, do I have to pay an installation fee? I have the old cable feed still in my apartment and plenty of cable. Can I just pick up a cable box and modem and install by myself? So confusing..

Does anyone else notice how frequently on demand content can't be accessed? Sometimes I will get a Meta-6 error or something like that and not even be able to get into the on demand menus. Other times I can get to the lists of movies but when I try to watch one, I get a "Sorry your selection can not be accessed right now, please try again later" Then the next day it will work fine. What are they doing that fixes this on its own? And Why can't get always do it?

Also, why do HD channels sometimes come up pixelated and the sound will drop out and the picture will almost look like its combining frames from a past scene into the current scene and then freeze for a minute. But then I press one channel up and the next HD channel is working fine. This also happens a few times a month too. Why can't Comcast permanitly fix these errors?

I had the same problem...it was the box. Swapped it out and no problems since.

You are all getting ripped off. Ralph Roberts compensation package a few years ago was 100 million and when he dies his wife will collect is salary and compensation for another 5 years. My cable bill at the shore is $10/month. It is nice to have a little competition.

Yes, we were all comcastipated™ last night.

And I refuse to let it go.. I call back (comcasturbation™) until I speak to a real person and they have a record of my complaint. 5 outages in the last 3 months.

Also and completely unrelated sorta ... I pay my T-Mobile bill over the phone so they can hear how crappy their coverage is in heart of the 5th largest city.
