I am going to check out this apartment tomorrow. The lady who owns it seems pretty flexible and friendly, but I am not from the area so I don't know what to expect. Would anyone be willing to give me some input? Here is the listing:

Unfortunately, this is probably one of the most dangerous areas of South Philly. I would not be comfortable encouraging someone (especially someone who is not familiar with the area) to rent there. What other areas are you considering? If you've decided on South Philly, there are plenty of good options.

We also have appointments to see these places:

I am kind of lost when it comes to this. We are driving 2 hours to look at these places and need to find a place fast. It is really frustrating and stressful. Quote:

Your best bet is to try and familiarize yourself with the nieghborhood locations so that you can quickly filter out locations. For example, Point Breeze is pretty dangerous, as is (but a good investment opportunity of your familar with the market here), as is a lot of Gray's Ferry, while the graduate hospital area is getting better each and every day.
What do you need to be close to? People on this blog can surely help you pick a good neighborhood, but we need to know what your looking for out of the location!!! |

We can rent pretty high, up to like 850 a month, nothing bigger than 2 bedrooms. We just want somewhere relatively safe. |
