Have you considered Bella Vista (6th-11th, South to Washington)? My guess is you can find at least a 1-bedroom in your price range and your boyfriend could walk to work. I also assume there's a bus that could get him there, but don't know the specifics. Bella Vista is a great and very convenient neighborhood...also pretty safe.

If you're going to be looking in Point Breeze (Washington--northbound, Snyder-southbound, 25th--westbound, Broad--eastbound) you're best staying close to Broad and Snyder. 15th and Moore is not too bad. You still ought to look at the graduate hospital area--north of washington and south of south, but you may only be able to get a 1 bedroom there. Also you ought to check ought the Fairmount/Art musuem neigborhood which is North of Market but still next to Center City.

"The Box" actually. I remember when that was a nice neighborhood. Pity.
