Default Major League Baseball Screws the Philadelphia Sports Fan

Is anyone as outraged as I am that the first two Phillies games are at 3pm on Wednesday and Thursday, and the next two are on Saturday and Sunday at 9:30pm amd 10pm at night? First of all, how many people are going to miss the weekday games because they can't take off work? How many bosses, who have a heart, will be hard pressed to let people take off and miss two afternoons of productivity? I feel for them also. As for the weekend games, how many kids will miss them because they are so late? I probably will fall asleep before the games are over at 1-1:30am.

This is all to squeeze every greedy little penny of advertising dollars out of the series, and to make way for the Yankees at prime time for the NY TV market. In the process, the Phillies fan gets screwed.
Major League Baseball ought to be ashamed. And if the Phillies do not raise a stink, they ought to be ashamed also. Baseball cannot be America's game when it goes out of its way to screw the fan in order squeeze money from its advertising. I urge everyone to call or write the Phillies to complain about this. It might be too late to change it, but we need to make ourselves heard.

what sucks even more is that if you have the mlb.tv package online, you might be blacked out so you won't be able to watch it that way either. not sure if it'll change for the playoffs but that happened during the regular season.

the yankees play thursday, philly has been bumped for the RedSox which play @ 6:30 tomorrow. (at least this is what each teams' website says now).

both the phil's game and sox are on TBS.......didn't NBC and FOX used to carry the games?

conspiracy theory: TBS based in Atlanta (Braves country) and normal carrier of Braves games gets back at the Philly by giving prime time to Boston......

can't complain, at least I can watch the sox game.

It's the only possible reason-that combined with the grubby fingers of MLB and their advertisers trying to suck every possible penny from the series-so they refuse to overlap the games. The sexier teams get the top prime time slot.
Greed has ruined professional sports.

Default agreed, sorta

i agree, but think the Yankees play at 5. they aren't in prime time either. i think Boston and the Cubs are getting all the primo airtime.

but c'mon. any real Phan takes off from work to watch the games, though. gimme a break. i'm moving tomorrow and just rescheduled to start at 4 in the morning so i can watch tv at 3.

but it does suck.

F--- them! What do they know?!! Everyone loves the underdog. Isn't Phillies vs. Rockies a more interesting game? 2 underdogs duking it out. Sounds more interesting to me.

Right but the mere fact that they won't overlap the games is what causes the problem. It didn't used to be that way.

Yeah, I'm not too happy about that. But I'm the Intranet administrator at my office, so I set up our home page to show an RSS feed of the scoreboard from MLB.com. hehehe.
