Default Passyunk Acme

I've heard from three different people that this Acme is closing. One person said that a ShopRite is going to take it over, while another says that the building's going to be demolished to make way for new condos.

Anybody out there in the know about what's going to happen here?

What?! I would think it is a very profitable store. I could see where ShopRite would like to take it over, but condos? That is a huge parcel of land, is there really that much demand to live in South Philly?
If it does, it will not have a major impact on my shopping. Other than orange juice (they always have it on sale), I don't purchase much in the wayof perishables there.

For what it's worth, Acme has posted signs all over the store stating that there are no plans to close the store.

Hope what those signs say is true. I really love having the convenience of being able to walk to the grocery store from home. Now maybe I'll run out and invest in one of those little "ol' lady" push carts after all.

Default close it down

i would be pleased if they closed down that acme. the lines are way too line, the store is dirty and i don't care if it's walking distance from my house..i could walk to the super fresh, buy my groceries, check myself out, and walk all the way back home faster than i could get through a check out line there at any hour.

plus the customer service people are rude......i needed by septa tokens and cough syrup and the customer service person (the only line you can buy septa tokens at) told me after i waited 20 minutes in her line she wouldn't ring up my cough meds and i had to go get in another line that had a wait time of hours i am sure.....and this is not the only time..try buying smokes......BOO!

yeah, shut that place down....put those mean people outta a job.

I've found that the Acme self checkout lanes are the worst of the ones I've used. Plus, it doesn't help when morons are trying to use them.

more dirt: the store manager told my friends grandfather today (lifetime SPhila resident) that they are in fact closing, and Albertsons is considering selling the land (including bank) to a developer.

We shall see....this is just more dirt. No dates mentioned...but near future was the vibe.
