Default Annoying Beeping Phone Calls

Hey Everybody,

I love this blog. It is a chance to speak to those in the community and get suggestions or simply an empathic ear.

For some time now, I have been receiving annoying phone calls at all hours of the day and night (just got 2 in a row right now). When I pick up the receiver there is a beeping sound. I think the beeping is coming from a fax machine that automatically dials random phone numbers.

Does anyone else get these calls? If so, do you know of any solution. Thanks and I hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday.....

Yes. If you have a fax machine put it on your main line and receive the transmission. Find out where the fax is coming from. This happened to me and I was getting fax beeping on my home number, did as I prescribed... turned out it was an airline sending flight confirmation details to some guy.
I called the airline to tell them the mistake and they sorted it out. No more faxes. There is a chance that it is a fax spammer but the only way for you to know is to receive the transmission.

so what do you do if you don't have a fax machine?

Maybe if you have caller ID you could track the number back and find out who owns it. Or 69 it if you don't have caller ID.

Or wait until the old lady in your building dies and ask for her phone number....

Sounds like you're talking about your land line at home. If your telephone service provider offers call forwarding, you can program your phone to forward to a fax machine at your office or wherever. You should be able to sort it out with a minimum of aggravation to your friends and whomever else might be calling the same number.

This was happening to a woman I work with. The calls came in every Wednesday...in the wee hours of the morning. She got in touch with her phone company and they handled the problem.
