Just reposting this message - not sure if it's accurate or not:
Date: Feb 5, 2007 1:53 PM Subject DOG LEFT OUTSIDE Body: THERE IS A ROTTWEILER ON THE 500 BLOCK OF WHARTON STREET WHO WAS LEFT OUTSIDE LAST NITE AND WILL MOST LIKELY BE LEFT OUTSIDE AGAIN TONITE. HIS OWNERS HAVE LEFT HIM OUT THERE IN THE SHITTY CEMENT BACK YARD FOR AS LONG AS I'VE KNOWN ABOUT HIM--WHICH IS ABOUT 8 OR 9 MONTHS. I KNOCKED ON THE DOORS OF 511, 513, & 517, BUT GOT NO ANSWER. S.P.C.A. WILL ONLY SEND A LETTER. AFTER RECIEVING MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS, THEY STILL HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING TO RESCUE THIS POOR DOG FROM ABUSIVE OWNERS. HE WILL BE DEAD BEFORE A LETTER GETS THERE. HE WILL FREEZE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. ANYONE HAVE ANY ADVICE? PLEASE PLEASE HELP. |

sorry - I don't have any additional information. I'm just reposting from what someone put on myspace. I assume since she names the numbers of houses she knocked on with no response, that it's one of those. I guess this is a wild goose chase type thing, not sure if anything can be done about it.

i would think that it's appropriate to call the cops in this instance. that's abuse. yes, dogs are animals, but i am sure they aren't able to survive in conditions like it has been recently, often below zero with wind chill. that's not good for dogs. even degrees in the teens and 20's aren't good for dogs.

This cold is definitely not their natural habitat. Back in the 80's, we had a Siberian Husky. Most folks think of them as cold weather dogs. But our vet admonished us to make sure we always had a coat on her when we walked her in the cold weather. He told us that most folks think they're fine because they see them as sled dogs. But they adapt to the temps in their locations just like humans do, so they need to stay warm. If the furry-haired Huskies need that warmth, imagine how cold that Rotweiller must be outside this week.
