I heard they were closing, because the school was taking too much money from the church in order to stay open. So then what will happen to money that they'll be saving by closing the school, well, half of it ends up back at the archdiocese offices for "other expenses". I think that by closing the school, they will only be killing the church in the long run. I can't see a young family joining there, when you have Sacred Heart and Mount Carmel, both with good schools, right in the area.

That the church might be in trouble too. The old Lithuanian families that used to make big contributions are dying off. Altho, St Stans was able to keep their church going after the school closed. A lot of the students in St Casimir weren't even members of the parish. It was getting to the point where they were taking in kids that got booted from other catholic schools, just to make ends meet. To be honest, I pulled my son out of St Casimirs midway through 4th grade because we were having such problems with one of the teachers. When I put him in another school, they were so far ahead of what he had been learning in St C's .
ends meet.

Default Hmmm

That could be it, not sure, I always paid my tuition and on time. and my kids never been expelled, disciplinary problems as such so maybe I was was oblivious to it.

They were going to schools that was in a different section of the city and it had small classes. I orginally had them in Sacred Heart, but when I heard of St. Casimir's and their very small classes I jumped at the chance. I like it when kids have individual attention a little bit more. I hear parents saying that it is the adminstration doing it bad, but who knows.

I was a product of a School Closing in South Philly so it is not a nice feeling and right now I had to tell my children the news, and my girls are sad.

Also word on the street is that Annunciation BVM is also on the "chopping Block"

If anyone knows anything about the schools I listed above, please let me know. Thank you for the input thus far.
