BV/QV: Oppose check cashing store at 620 S. Broad St. TONIGHT
SOSNA Zoning Wednesday, September 20, 2006, St. Anthony’s Senior Residence, 23rd & Carpenter Street – 6:30 PM, is reviewing a request for another check cashing store, which would make S. Broad St./Ave. of the Arts more like the old Times Square and less like the new and improved Times Square.
Does this draw an element that avoids banks and has lots of small bills at the expense of the "Avenue of the Arts"? This will directly impact the quality of life in QV/BV.
This will impact the southward extention of the Avenue of the Arts to the vibrant SP commercial community on Broad St.
"620 South Broad Street - The application is for a check cashing agency on the first floor in the same building with two (2) existing apartments 2nd thru 3rd floors" reads the SOSNA zoning notice.
I urge you all to come down to 23rd and Carpenter, basement of St. Anthony's Senior Residence at 23rd and Carpenter, to oppose. Check cashing stores in Philly are strongly associated with crime and the drug trade. I lived next to one and saw first hand.
It's ok to be late, since this is the last item on the list to be heard tonight.
