It's official!
After months of planning and paperwork (!), there is now a civic association and town watch for the area from Tasker to Snyder, Broad to 9th. By vote of the membership at our September 11th meeting we're officially known as "East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association and Town Watch." "Where Passyunk crosses the heart of South Philly." Regularly scheduled monthly General Membership meetings (open to all!) will begin: Monday, October 2, 2006Meetings will always be held the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. Visit our website for regular updates, meeting minutes, and event information: www.passyunkcrossing.org Here's what happened last night, excerpted from the website, Quote:

I'm between 8th and 9th near Moore - may I still participate? Do you know which neighborhood civic organization I should contact?
I'm excited to hear about what your organization does in the future - I am currently renting but hope to buy a house in the neighborhood early next year. I love the area and I am very interested in participating in cleaning up the neighborhood and getting the residents to understand that it really isn't okay to sweep everything into the sewer drains... (what's with that anyway?) S |

I think that east passyunk is really starting to boom and stand up as a great neighborhood and cultural area. This Wednesday is a monthly event on east passyunk avenue called 'Piazza on Passyunk'. I went last month and it was great, and heard that this month is going to be even better. There is a farmers market that starts at 3 pm and starting at 5pm, tons of artisans, crafters, demonstrations, performances etc. This event is great for all types of people....families, young adults, senior citizens...basically everyone in the community!!!
Hope to see you there! |
