Famous Dave's ribs sucked when I ate there a few weeks ago.

I will try their burger next time I go.

It is a disgrace!! God forbid if there was an Olive Garden in South Philly...it probably would have won the title of "Best Italian Restaurant"

Actually, though, now that I think of it, all of the independent places with great burgers in South Philly are located North of Washington. (Royal Tavern, Sabrinas, etc). There really aren't any great burgers South of Washington besides fast food. Can anyone think of any besides Famous Dave's?

Also, I think that the readership of the South Philly Review is mainly folks who live South of Washington. (such as myself).

By the way, I voted in this poll and voted for Royal Tavern for Best Burger!

Royal Tavern and Sabrinas are not in what most now consider South Philly. For most people on this blog, South Philly is S of Washington, even though the Review is delivered N of Washington...

Royal burgers are good. I prefer Devil Spit.

I live near 10th and christian, and I think you are probably right about the voters being south of washington. I didn't even know there was a burger king in south philly, nor did I recognize most of the restaurants or bar listed.

When I got the best of issue, I said to my wife that we should try some of these restaurants, then I saw Burger king for best burger and I told her to forget it.

It's like we are in a limbo. My friends in deep south philly say I don't live in south philly. My friends in center city say I live in south philly and not center city. I can't win.

Here's the link: https://www.southphillyreview.com/vi...le.php?id=4282

Reading through this thread, I first assumed that naming BK with the best burger prize must be just sarcasm, but upon actually reading the review, I think they were serious. Disturbing. BTW, it's reader's choice, so take from that what you will.

King reigns supreme

Since its debut in 1954, the Whopper has been devoured by countless burger-lovers with big appetites.

More than a half-century later, the sandwich is still Burger King's icon and fits into the company's plan of "having it your way."

Using broiled beef patties and a selection of toppings, the Whopper and the chain's many forms of the sandwich are irresistible to residents, who dubbed them tastiest burger.

"For the price, our burgers are bigger and it's a quality sandwich," said Tom Plantulli, storeowner at the 2728 S. Front St. and 1521 Columbus Blvd. locations.

A healthy selection makes these sandwiches appealing to customers, who prefer something other than "your typical, run-of-the-mill burger."

The new Angus beef burger has been popular, but people like Plantulli prefer the classics. He typically orders his Whopper with cheese, heavy on the mayo and ketchup.

"That's my biggie," he said. The Melrose Diner, Wendy's and McDonald's all tied for second place.

No, BK doesn't suck as bad as McDs. But it does suck.
