So someone on this board reported it to Lowes?? sounds like we got Mcgruff the crime dog here.

Criminal charges..... I doubt it. Even if you get the IP adress, what make you think the Internet provider will give up the name? They not going to give it to Phillyblog because you allege a theft. And I doubt that Delaware County police are going to all the trouble of subpoeing computer records for a case where the value of the alleged theft is only about $100 or so.

Even if you get the name, who is to say that the person who posted the message is the same who bought and returned. is Lowes goiing to go through all their records.

Rules of evidence apply in criminal cases so i think it would be difficult to 1 get proper authenticated records and 2) hearsay

The question is a moral/ethical one, hardly a legal one.

If they hire employees that stupid, they deserve to lose the hundred bucks.

No you said stealing...
Stealing is both a moral/ethical issue but it is also a legal issue. You steal and get caught you will be in legal trouble.
I think you were ridiculous to bring it up.
You join this website and the first thing you do is question someones morals and ethics? People get ripped off all the time, once in while you get a little back...
welcome to the board but please get over yourself.

Are you a lawyer? Lawyers take all the fun out of everything.
BTW when people were stealing music that was exactly what happened.

But the thread is drifting... back to the issue at hand. Oregon Ave Home Depot for the most part is better than Home Depot on Delaware Ave and Lowe's usually has better service than both. Neither could match the service of the old neighborhood hardware stores that have by and large been priced out of business.

Exclamation

Since some of you want to operate with your bargain basement police decoder rings i will humor you (note I said some of you not all)

I wasn't at the register when it happened. Why my husband wasn't paying that much attention either is beyond me. I didn't think to ask about it until later when the $$ was sitting on his dresser (to be put back in the bank). When I went to count it it was more than we paid for the top was clear. For some reason when he gave them the card to put it back on our visa they didn't want to do that. Now if they had and noticed the oversight they could have corrected it and subtracted it out of our account but they were rushing people through since the line was out the door.

Should we have taken it back? Maybe but after all we went through @ both stores with their inept workers I wasn't in the mood. Had they left a better taste in my mouth perhaps we would have.

Now back to our regularly scheduled discussion of HD..

I also read that a contractor was held up at gunpoint outside of this Home Depot at 11:00 a.m. a few months back. The guy got $3000 in cash. Crazy.
OMG Ill have to tell my husband that!

i agree...is it really our job to make sure these incompentents are doing their job?? I went through a similar experience at target---why should I point out their mistakes? If these chains want capable workers, let them hire them. Why should we do the work for them?
