Red face Catering to pennsport

You know what i was just noticing. Pennsport is increasing in its younger hipper residents and I think we could totally use some establishments that would cater to these people.
Every neighborhood has it hip corner bar (dirty franks, doobie's, standard tap)

What about the East Moyamensing Saloon.
Couldnt you totally see that becoming something more than
an "8 am cocktail" place?

it was actually used in that show "it's always sunny in philadelphia"

I totally agree. I wish there were some places like "Morning Glory" in this neck of the woods. Or even a "Royal Tavern" (minus the obscenely loud jukebox) Or a cozy coffee shop/books store. I had very high hopes for Cafe Carmen but the mood/feeling there is a little off. And the hours seem a bit erratic. And of course the lack of a menue is frustrateing. I hate the "What do you want?" "Well what do you have?" back and forth that I had to go through. I haven't been there since it first opened though so maybe I should check it out again.

Thumbs up

I'd be more than willing to help out the cause! I'm pretty new to the area and would love a place like the ones you mentioned. Maybe we should set up a happy hour or something soon?

Yes they are...maybe sometime next week or the following week? I'm thinking mid week to check the place out. I've never been to East Moyamensing Saloon. Have you been to any other places around there?

yeah but where are you going to have happy hour?

we looked at pennsport when we were home shopping - and made a right quick decision that it was too lacking in corner bar population, and for that matter, good noshing. which was a shame because we liked some of the blocks.

Well that's true. I just think that if we could rally enough people around one of the local corner bars we could sorta...you know...politely....take it over. The only corner bar that has snacks that I know of is...Hmm....Is it Docs? Is that the correct name? Can't think of it right now.

Anywho, yeah, so if there was enough interest maybe we could "restructure" a corner bar. If they get enough traffic then they may be open to suggestions, etc. Just a thought/dream at the moment.

the only reason i suggest the east moyamensing saloon is that
currently, all the other bars, especially docs, are all union folk.
not that that is a bad thing or anything, but it seems firmly rooted in its clientele.

Moyamensing saloon is a bit of an "older crowd" ....kind of reminds me of the ministry of information, what used to be the W&J, in northern liberties....what was once an old drunk bar, still probably partially an old drunk bar, is now "kindly taken over" by a younger crowd

That was exactly the impression I got from Doc's. And I LOVED the Ministry of Information when I was there. I'd agree with trying the EMS as a target spot.

See, we're half way there. We're already referring to it as EMS. That's what everyone will soon be calling it. We'll post information about it. Get lots of people to go. Pretty soon it will be ours!! Ours I tell you !! Muuuhhahahahahhaha!!!!
