Smile xmas trees in g-ho?

Hi there nice Phillyblog people.

Does anyone have an idea about where christmas trees will be sold this year besides South Square Market? As impressed as I am with their new meat freezer, I still don't want to give them $30 for a tree as expired as their food has been in the past. I was hoping to be able to walk and get one, and not have to drive somewhere.

I have lived in this neighborhood for a few years but I usually get my tree out in the 'burbs. This year I'd love to buy local, but not if I can't find any! Surely there's got to be someone selling them in our booming neighborhood.

If anyone has any suggestions, it would be nice to hear them!
Thanks.

There are some guys selling nice trees and wreaths on Oregon Avenue near 4th St. They have them set up all along the whole block. I'm not sure about the prices though.

I know it's not G-Ho, but if you have a car...

I believe I saw someplace selling them in an empty lot on South St. It may have been on the 'other' side of Broad, but still closer then South Philly.

Thanks for the quick replies!

I know where you're talking about UncleCranky, and I think that might be the best option. I guess I'm just so spoiled where I live - I feel like everything I need is within 2 blocks, so xmas trees should be no exception.

I wouldn't recommend buying your tree at the 4th & Oregon avenue venue. I bought one there a couple of years ago and was HIGHLY disappointed with the price/quality. Last year, I bought my tree at Richmond and Ann Street (It's under I95). I highly recommend this place!

I paid $27 at Home Depot in S. Philly. I realize I am probably going to be criticized for purchasing there, but...it happens to be one of the few perfect trees in existence (seriously), they wrapped it and put it in my car, along with my other bags, and I'm sure it is cheaper then anything else out there...its nearly 8'.

Which Home Depot? Home-Depot-by-the-Delaware, or the one at 23rd & Oregon?

Capn Jesse's on Washington before 8th, has the $22 and $30 trees. They've worked for me for the last 3 Xmases. You have to really look through the trees and find the one with the flaw you can most live with. Mostly just a slightly bare patch in one spot, or funky top branches.

They have them at a the junk place further up Wash on the same side, but they wanted like $25 for a tiny apartment tree and $60 for a regular tree, they were nice looking but not $60 nice.

We got a really nice 9+ foot tree at the Home Depot down on Oregon Ave for $35. They trim the stump, wrap it and put it on your car for you.
